The Missouri Watershed Information Network has received a $261,000 grant from the Missouri Department of Natural Resources for Web-Based Tools for the Classroom: A 319 Pilot Project for Grades 4-8 in Southwest and Northeast Missouri.
During the three-year project, MoWIN will develop interactive web-based instructional materials to support classroom learning about watersheds. "This project is an additional tool for educators to improve science education, library collections and to integrate watershed education with science, social studies and other subjects and to help increase children's awareness of local community natural resources," says Tabitha Madzura, MoWIN director.
The project objectives are to:
MoWIN is collaborating with the Bryant Watershed Atlas Project volunteers, James River Basin Partnership, Watershed Committee of the Ozarks and Clarence Cannon Wholesale Water Commission.
