Harrison County celebrates reopening during UO/E Week

May 21st was a dual celebration for the Harrison County outreach and extension faculty, staff and council members. In addition to celebrating University Outreach and Extension Week, May 18-24, the day marked the grand re-opening of the local office.

The Harrison County extension center closed in March 2002 due to cuts in local appropriations. The support of local residents helped restore funding in 2003.

To show its gratitude, the Harrison County extension council presented the county commission with a Certificate of Appreciation for its financial support.

More than 50 residents visited the office during the four-hour open house. Refreshments were served by members of the county's six 4-H clubs, and door prizes, donated by local businesses, were given away on the half hour.

Word that the extension center is open again is quickly spreading. Since reopening its doors April 1, about 10 citizens per day call or visit the extension center for answers to their questions.
