Letter from EVP Turner: UO/E Week celebrates value and impact

Dear Colleagues:

University Outreach and Extension Week, which begins May 18, is a celebration of the many ways in which UO/E improves people's lives. The value and impact of our educational programs is no more evident than in those communities impacted by storms and tornadoes earlier this month. I know that many of you are continuing to put in long hours to ensure that people in those communities receive the services and support they need. Be assured that your work has not gone unnoticed by others throughout the University system as well the State Emergency Management Agency and other partner organizations.

Your accomplishments are recognized by all levels of government, from city and county officials to Gov. Holden, who declared May 18-24 as University Outreach and Extension Week. At the federal level, the work done here in Missouri also has been recognized. Our colleague, Dave Baker, assistant dean of agriculture and natural resources extension, and former state specialist Lynn Pike will by honored with national awards for their work in disaster preparedness and adolescent parenting by the U.S. Department of Agriculture in a ceremony in Washington, D.C., next month.

Thank you, again, for your contributions to the programs that will be highlighted across Missouri during University Outreach and Extension Week.

With all best regards,

Ron Turner
