Community Connection hits five-year mark

Community Connection, University Outreach and Extension's online directory of community resources, marks its five-year anniversary this month. Since 1998, nearly three-quarters of a million visitors have used Community Connection. Each month, approximately 5,000 visitors access the more than 15,000 resources and services listed in the directory.

VISTA project adds new sites

The 4-H/Community Youth Development VISTA project has added 10 sites that will focus on youth civic engagement. Those sites are in the following counties: Camden, Douglas, Jackson, Laclede, Monroe, St. Francois County and Wright. VISTA volunteers will participate in an orientation session, May 22-23. UO/E Community Development and 4-H Youth Development are collaborating on the program, created through a three-year cost share agreement with the Corporation for National and Community Service for 20 VISTA volunteer positions

Popcorn Board seeks nominations

The Popcorn Board, a USDA-supervised non-profit organization, is seeking nominations for three members to the nine-person board. Members serve a three-year term, beginning Jan. 1, 2004. Processors who produced more than four million pounds in 2002 may make nominations to the Secretary for Agriculture. Nominations should be sent to the Popcorn Board Office by May 1.
