New PIE/PDE offerings to be available April 15

A new set of professional development courses will open for enrollment April 15.

"We have a strong set of offerings," says System Program Director Julie Middleton. "The program leaders have identified the professional development needs in their program areas."

To support revenue generation goals, professional development courses on grant writing and fund raising also will be available. (See related article.)

Outreach and extension faculty who want to further their professional development have many options. "Although funds are limited, we are putting those funds to the best use to ensure that our faculty are prepared to meet the needs of Missouri residents," Middleton says.

University Outreach and Extension is continuing to fund specialized PDEs, such as the participation of regional faculty in Cambio de Colores and the North Central Urban Extension Conference.

Middleton says University Outreach and Extension allocates funds for professional development to both regional directors and program leaders. Regional program development funds can be used to assist faculty in gaining skills needed for implementing programs. "The program leaders are using their funds to conduct training and subject-matter updates," she says.
