Governor to sign UO/E Week proclamation April 17

Gov. Holden will sign a proclamation declaring May 18-24 as University Outreach and Extension Week during an April 17 ceremony in Jefferson City.

The Governor's proclamation recognizes outreach and extension for improving people's lives with educational programs to build strong families and individuals; enhance economic viability; and create and sustain healthy environments.

University Outreach and Extension will be represented by:

• Tony DeLong, chairman of the Missouri Extension County Council Leadership Council
• Yvonne Matthews, LU human resource development specialist, and Carol Mertensmeyer, ParentLink program director, representing the Healthy Parenting Tool Kit Project
• Eric Evans, community emergency management specialist; Sherry Nelson, NE human environmental sciences specialist; Celeste Vanderbrugen, SE community development specialist; and Mary Leuci, community development program leader, representing the Community Emergency Management Program.

The proclamation may be used as a basis for developing proclamations issued by county or city governments.  A news release also has been posted on the UO/E Week Resources website.
