Legislative Day plans set for Feb. 26

Members of MECCLC, county outreach and extension council members, and other UO/E supporters are invited to participate in Legislative Day, Feb. 26, in Jefferson City. Legislative Day is sponsored by the UM Alumni Alliance, comprised of representatives of each campus alumni association and UO/E to encourage support for public higher education.

“Legislative Day provides an excellent opportunity for supporters of the University and UO/E to communicate the value of the University’s programs to legislators,” said Tony Delong, MECCLC chair. “With 90 new legislators in the General Assembly, and in these times of reduced state funding, it is more important than ever to share stories about the ways UO/E improves people’s lives.”

Registration for Legislative Day begins at 9 a.m. at Capitol Plaza. Council members may make appointments in advance to visit with legislators that morning or later in the day. Visits without appointments also are permissible. A noon luncheon at Capitol Plaza will feature service awards given to UM and UO/E representatives. MECCLC will hold a meeting for council members from 3-4 p.m. in Room 492 of the Truman Building. Council members and UO/E supporters also are invited to join in a 5-7 p.m. reception with legislators at Capitol Plaza.
