The statewide committee planning 2003 UO/E Week - May 18-24 - met Jan. 15 and discussed ways to heighten awareness of the value and impact of UO/E in Missourians' lives.
The group identified audiences that could be targeted for enhanced communication: legislators and other stakeholders; residents new to an area, including immigrants from other countries; "casual users" of extension services (those who have some familiarity with UO/E programs but are not committed, involved participants); current and former county extension council members; current University students; UM alumni; low-income and other underrepresented groups; the media; and large corporations.
Three subgroups then brainstormed ideas for communicating with legislators, casual users and Spanish-speaking immigrants.
Marketing ideas will be shared in future weeks. For a summary of events that took place during UO/E Week, visit the 2002 website.
