Endowments support UO/E professional development fellowships

Faculty and staff are among the beneficiaries of University Outreach and Extension's Endowment and Gifts Program. Eight of UO/E's endowment accounts support professional development among employees.

Outreach and Extension fellowships assist individual university faculty and professional staff members in continuing their professional development in support of the university outreach mission.

Faculty and professional staff members with two consecutive years of employment at the University of Missouri or Lincoln University may apply for fellowship funds to support a professional development activity related to their outreach and extension work. Individuals may receive up to $1,000 for each activity and $1,500 during their career.

"Given the current budget situation, outreach and extension fellowships are a great way for individuals to continue their professional development," says Vivian Mason, Mexico Telecommunication Community Resource Center coordinator. Mason chairs the Awards and Fellowship Committee, which reviews applications and make recommendations on fellowships to Executive Vice President Ron Turner.

In the past, individuals have used fellowship funds to support semester study leave and to attend conferences on specific subjects.

Applications may be submitted at any time. The committee reviews applications received by the first of each month and makes recommendations by the 15th of the month. Additional information and applications are available on the web.
