4-H Club to be in the Presidential Inauguration Parade The Stars and Steeds Mounted Drill Team, a 4-H Club from Willard, has been invited to ride in the Presidential Inauguration Parade Jan. 20 in Washington D.C.

Peers name Phipps Extension Cotton Specialist of the Year Bobby Phipps, extension cotton specialist at the MU Delta Research and Extension Center, has been recognized by his peers from throughout the Cotton Belt as the 2005 Extension Cotton Specialist of the Year. The award was presented at the Extension Cotton Specialist's annual banquet Jan. 4, during the 2005 Beltwide Cotton Conferences in New Orleans.

Inclement-weather policy reminder Because certain essential functions of the University must be provided at all times, operations are not suspended in the event of severe weather, even though classes may be cancelled. When weather conditions affect MU employees’ ability to travel to and from work, University policy allows employees to use accrued vacation and personal days, adjust work schedules to make up the time or take leave without pay when other options are unavailable. Annual conference dates revised The dates for the 2005 annual conference have been revised to avoid conflict with Yom Kippur. The new dates are Oct. 10-12.

Nominations sought for 2005 Ratchford Fellowship Nominations for the 2005 C. Brice Ratchford Memorial Fellowship are due March 1. The $5,000 award is given to a University faculty member for contributions to the land-grant mission in extension, international education or agricultural economics. Guidelines

Fire training aces review The MU Fire and Rescue Training Institute received credit recommendations for 29 courses submitted for review by the American Council on Education, which evaluates non-credit programs. ACE approval allows students enrolled at other institutions to receive credit toward graduation for completing FRTI courses. Reviewers, who visited MU in December, complimented FRTI for its high standards in content and methodology.
