It is very common for folks to overlook turning their page background color to white because it already appears white in the FrontPage Editor, when it is actually set to "default" in the Page Properties. If your default background color is set to white in your browser, you may not catch it when you view your pages, either.
To thwart this in the future, you can modify your "normal page template" in FrontPage to always have white set as the background color automatically when you create a new page, or change other default settings. Here's how to do it. These instructions assume that you installed FrontPage 98 in C:\Program_files\FrontPage98\ if you installed it somewhere else, modify the path accordingly. For Frontpage 2000 users, the template file is saved in the directory \Templates\1033\Pages\normal.tem\ within your Office 2000 directory.
Using the FP Editor, open this page:
c:\program_files\FrontPage98\pages\normal.tem\normal.htm or c:\Program_Files\Microsoft_Office\Templates\1033\Pages\normal.tem\normal.htm
Change the background color to white or make other changes to the default settings.
For Frontpage 2000, simply save the template file to its original location on the hard drive
For Frontpage 98, "Save as" and click "As template". Click Browse and choose "Normal Page". When you hit save it will ask you a couple times if you really want to do it. Say yes.
That's it. Every time you start a new page it will automatically have a
white background.
