Installing FrontPage98
For University Outreach and Extension Web Developers

You do not need to install the "Microsoft Personal Web Server." The only tricky part about installing this software is thwarting the attempts to install the Personal Web Server. It takes up quite a bit of disk space, and it is not necessary to using FrontPage.

  1. Insert the CD.
  2. Click NO when you are asked if you wish to install the Personal Web Server
  3. On the main screen, choose "Install FrontPage"
  4. Follow the screens, providing the software license number from your CD case when necessary, until you get to the screen that asks you what type of install you want.
  5. Choose "Custom Install"
  6. On the Custom Install screen, take the X out of the box next to "Install Personal Web Server." Choose other options as desired. (You do not need the server extensions installed.)
  7. Continue until the installation is complete, then reboot.

Installing Image Composer

  1. Insert the CD.
  2. Click NO when you are asked if you wish to install the Personal Web Server
  3. On the main screen, choose "Install Image Composer"
  4. When prompted, choose "Custom Install"
  5. Choose options as desired, and according to the amount of hard drive space you have available.
  6. Continue until complete.

See Connecting to the Web Server for instructions on connecting to the UO/E Web server to access your account.
