HTML is the markup language which makes documents readable to a Word Wide Web browser such as Netscape. HTML consists of many "tags" or formatting codes which determine how a page will look.
Basic HTML tags are pretty easy to learn and use, since all mark-up is done in plain text so you can see all the tags in your document as you work. However, more advanced features of HTML such as forms, and frames can be more difficult, and often involve "scripts" written in a programming language such as Perl or C.
