Minimum requirements for MU Extension affiliate Web sites
Affiliate sites are those that represent MU Extension named programs,
but are not maintained by MU Extension employees. Examples include 4-H
club, Master Gardener and Master Naturalist Web sites.
-
Affiliate sites must include:
- a statement that clearly defines the relationship with MU
Extension. In some cases, this may also include relationships with
other entities.
Examples: The Confluence Chapter of the Missouri Master Naturalist Program*
is an affiliate program of the University of Missouri Extension* and
the Missouri Department of Conservation*. This site is maintained by
local volunteers who represent these programs in their communities.
St. Louis Master Gardeners is an affiliate program of the University
of Missouri Extension Master Gardener Program* and the Missouri
Botanical Garden*. This site is maintained by local volunteers who
represent these programs in their communities.
*Provide links to appropriate MU Extension program pages and
partners.
- a nondiscrimination statement that links to the MU Extension
policy page:
University of Missouri Extension is an equal opportunity/ADA
institution Link this to:
http://extension.missouri.edu/nondiscrimination.html
- The correct formal name of the organization is University of
Missouri Extension. This full name should be used as the first
reference in an article or Web page. The preferred second
reference is MU Extension.

- Content that describes the program should not be duplicated if
it is available on an MU Extension Web page. Instead, link to the MU
Extension page. Examples include content such as “About the Missouri
Master Gardener Program,” “About 4-H,” and “How to become a Master
Gardener.”
- Volunteer-maintained sites must be kept up to date and have
content oversight from a current faculty member who is named on the
pages with contact information.
- To verify that the above requirements are met, the site must be
approved by the statewide program leader with oversight in the
content area and the MU Extension Web team. Sites that meet these
requirements can include the MU Extension logo and can be linked
from the MU Extension Web pages if appropriate.
