Bates, Benton, Boone, Carroll, Cass, Cedar, Christian, Cooper, Greene, Henry, Hickory, Howard, Iron, Jefferson, Lawrence, Lincoln, Montgomery, Mississippi, Morgan, New Madrid, Newton, Phelps, Putnam, Scott, St. Clair, Taney, Vernon, Webster and Wright are eligible for FEMA's low-interest loans to rebuild, or grant funds to provide temporary housing.

AMERICAN RED CROSS:  866-206-0256 or 417-832-9500. The Greater Ozarks Chapter is providing food and shelter to those affected by the tornadoes. Locally, the Red Cross is accepting donations of blankets, bottled water and sports drinks, packaged snacks, baby formula, diapers, baby wipes and cash. Donations should be brought to 1835 E. Chestnut Expressway, Springfield, Mo. between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Dropped off items will not be accepted.

Red Cross Multi-County Service Centers:

  • Nixa Community Center, 701 N. Taylor Way, Nixa, MO, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday (they are in need of volunteers). Tel: 832-9500.

  • First Baptist Church, El Dorado Springs, MO (they have cleaning supplies, food and water)

EMERGENCY TEMPORARY HOUSING: Persons needing emergency temporary  housing may request assistance by calling the American Red Cross toll free at 1-8666-206-0256.

Missouri Tornado Disaster Assistance: For those wishing to make donations, provide volunteer assistance, and for information and referral for disaster survivors) Tel: 866-254-0140, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. This program is coordinated by the State Emergency Management Agency.

Food, Shelter and Clothing

Ozarks Food Harvest; large scale food donations delivery trucks; 417-865-3411 or 417-865-0504 (or www.ozarksfoodharvest.org). Ozarks Food Harvest is accepting non-perishable food donations at the warehouse southwest of Chestnut Expwy and Glenstone.

Churches of Christ Disaster Relief Warehouse: Contact any of the Churches of Christ in the Springfield area and they will assist anyone in need with food, cleaning supplies, blankets and water. Also have larger items for families without insurance. Contact facilities coordinator Dennis McClintock at 417-459-0808 or the office in Nixa Union Hill Church of Christ at 417-725-6036.

Compassion Alliance: 725-8761. Located in Nixa at the corner of Highway CC and Main Street, this organization is accepting supply donations. No clothing will be taken, but needed supplies include personal care items, cleaning supplies, vouchers and gift cards for meals, lodging and clothing, shelf staple food, work gloves, rakes, flat shovels, brooms, heavy-duty trash bags, safety glasses, dust masks, hard hats, flashlights and batteries, generators with oil and gas cans, and chainsaws with oil mix and gas cans. The Alliance also is accepting tax-deductible cash donations.

 

SALVATION ARMY

Housing Help

Housing -- Help with loan payments

Any homeowner that presently has a Rural Development loan and has been affected by the storms may apply for assistance/help on making their payments.  The number to call is 800-414-1226 which is the Centralized Servicing Center in St. Louis.  In certain instances a moratorium may be granted in which payments are suspended for a period of time until the homeowner's circumstances change.

Housing -- Available to rent

Rural Development also has multi-family housing units across the state that if there are vacancies, individuals may be able to rent.  The number to call about multi-family housing units is:  573-876-0970.

  • Donations of money to help storm victims are being accepted at all El Dorado Springs banks.

CHRISTIAN COUNTY

DONATIONS OF RELIEF SUPPLIES: All donations of supplies in Christian County are being coordinated by Compassion Alliance. Compassion Alliance web site has the "official" list of items needed. Web site: www.compassionalliance.org.

Compassion Alliance is asking for the following supplies: Water, Gatorade, Shelf Stable Food, Personal Care Items, Gloves, Trash Bags, Shovels and Rakes, Dust Masks, Generators, and Chain Saws. Please, NO ITEMS OTHER THAN THOSE LISTED be brought to their warehouse. NO CLOTHING PLEASE! The warehouse at 1609 N. Hwy CC in Nixa.

Disaster volunteer staging Wednesday morning at the Bridge Church, 308 W. Mount Vernon. Volunteers and chainsaw operators with chainsaws are needed for debris removal. Volunteers with last names beginning with letters A through L will be assigned at 9 a.m., and volunteers with last names beginning with M through Z will be assigned at 10 a.m. Volunteers are asked to bring identification and dress in work attire.

Churches of Christ Disaster Relief Warehouse: will assist anyone in need with food, cleaning supplies, blankets and water. Contact the Nixa Union Hill Church of Christ at 417-725-6036.  

 

DONATIONS OF CASH: The Ozark Area Community Action Corporation is the designated recipient of cash donations. Cash donations can be made by check to "Ozark Bank in Nixa - OACAC". Ozark Bank mailing address is PO Box 693, Nixa, Missouri 65714.

VOLUNTEERS: Those wishing to volunteer should report for registration and mission assignment to the Emergency Response Command Center located in The Bridge Church on the Southeast corner of the intersection of HWY 160 and HWY 14 in Nixa. (The old Ramey building) The center will be open to serve clients from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily except Sunday. (Closed on Sunday). Last word as of this writing is  that no additional volunteers will be needed until Monday of Next Week. Between 750 and 1,000 have already been registered.
 

PERSONS NEEDING TORNADO RELATED ASSISTANCE may register for assistance by going to the Red Cross Service Center co-located with the Command Center at The Bridge Church on the Southeast corner of the intersection of HWY 160 and HWY 14 in Nixa. The center will be open to serve clients from 9 AM to 4 PM daily except Sunday (Closed on Sunday).

HICKORY COUNTY

Red Cross and Emergency Management are set up in the Hickory County Courthouse, Hermitage, Mo.

LAWRENCE COUNTY

Volunteers contact the Lawrence County Community Organizations Active in Disaster, which is under the direction of Carol Nutt, the head of Lawrence County's Long-Term Recovery Committee.

Those wanting to help with volunteer time or donations can contact the Elm Branch Church at 417-678-3976. The church is providing meals, a place to sleep, and cleanup supplies for volunteers and victims.

Financial donations can be taken to the OACAC office in Aurora at 101 East Olive, in front of Hogwild Restaurant.

WEBSTER COUNTY
