Sullivan County is located in north central Missouri, approximately 30 miles south of the Iowa border. The rolling hills are conducive to cattle farming. Crops are a very small part of our county and approximately 55,000 acres are enrolled in CRP. The county seat is located in Milan, population 1600. The Sullivan County Memorial Hospital is also located in Milan. Major industries in Sullivan County include ConAgra and Premium Standard Foods/Farms. ConAgra is a poultry processing unit and Premium Standard raises and processes their own hogs. There are three schools with classes for K-12: Milan C-2, Green City R-1, Newtown-Harris R-3. Head Start and Parents as Teachers are also active in Sullivan County.
