Master Gardeners of the Ozarks
The Master Gardeners of the Ozarks are based in the Stone and Taney County area with seventy-five active residents who participate. The Master Gardeners pay back their education by volunteering in their communities. The volunteer aspect of the program is the heart of the community outreach effort.
In 2008 the Master Gardeners volunteered 4,651 hours valued at $80,000 in volunteer time. They were involved in one-on-one teaching, the speakers bureau, community beautification projects, a children's garden and hosted conferences such as the Spring Gardening Conference and Fall Gardening Workshop.
