4-H is
the largest youth serving organization in the world. All 50 states and
more than 80 countries have 4-H programs.
While 4-H has its
beginnings in rural America, 4-H now serves young people and volunteers
from major urban communities and rural non-farm settings as well.
4-H is more than a
club, 4-H is young people preparing to be leaders. 4-H members attend
camps, display their work at fairs, travel, host people from other
countries, learn with other young people and much more! In 4-H youth can
prepare for the future while making new friends and memories.
How Do
I Join 4-H?
It's Easy! Call your local
University of Missouri Extension Center, Listed in the telephone book
with other county offices. A 4-H staff member will guide you to the 4-H
opportunities in your area.
Does
it Cost to Join 4-H?
There is a small fee
to join 4-H -- check with your local University of Missouri Extension
Center for details. In addition, some projects may require a small
investment to get started, and there may be charges for materials or
special trips. Books and guides on 4-H projects can also be purchased.
Can
my Parents or
Guardians
be Involved?
Parents and
guardians can help as much as they would like. Whether it's making food
for a meeting, driving members to activities or becoming a project leader,
there is always room for parents and guardians to become involved. To be
recognized as a 4-H volunteer you must complete a 4-H volunteer
application and screening process.

Missouri 4-H is
sponsored by University of Missouri Extension in partnership with the
University of Missouri, Lincoln University and state, federal and county
government in each Missouri county.
How Old Do I Have to be
to
Join 4-H?
4-H welcomes all
young people ages 5 to 18. For youths ages 5 to 7, there is a special 4-H
program called Clover Kids. |
