Nutrition programs in schools focus on making wise food choices and limiting foods that add calories but little nutrient value.  We teach students to know what nutrients foods provide and how important they are to development of a healthy body that will enable them to accomplish their goals, from just growing to becoming an Olympic athlete, professor or president.

Foods are prepared in class that make great after school snacks that students can make themselves, with little supervision.

Throughout the year we incorporate super fun events like “FOOD POWER” for elementary school students. With this exhibit students will travel the path food takes from the farmer’s field to the sports field, they learn where the food they eat comes from and how it gives them the energy to grow and play.

The Food Power exhibit will visit 4 schools in the county this school year to make up for snow cancellations from last January.

The following pictures are snapshots of the exhibit showing the farm setting, labeling of milk cartons at the manufacturing plant, vegetables in the cafeteria setting, and the importance of milk for strong bones and teeth and bones and proper dental care.
