Sauk Mountain is the highest point in Missouri, and this
trail offers some spectacular views of the surrounding
countryside throughout much of the hike. Most of the
beginning of the trail is a gradual downward hike, but
much of the the return portion of the loop is fairly
steep uphill climb over some very rough terrain. The
trail starts out smooth, but gradually becomes more
rocky as you move further along. About midway through
the hike are the Mina Sauk falls, which can be very
beautiful at the right time of year. This trail is
fairly difficult, mostly because of it's length and
rugged terrain, and is not recommended for children.
