Ste. Genevieve Garden Walk 2009
The Ste. Genevieve County Master Gardeners, Inc., a University of
Missouri Extension Service program, are proud to announce their 2009
Ste. Genevieve Spring Garden Walk through Les Jardins de Ste.
Geneviève on Saturday and Sunday May 16
th and
17th. Several gardens are part of historic homes in Ste. Genevieve and
are typical of that time period. In addition, gardens with culinary
herbs, gardening in small spaces, water features, roses, and plants for
shade, plus much more will be featured. The Garden Walk hours will be 10
a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday and from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on
Sunday. Over 20 gardens will be featured.
Advance Tickets go on sale at the
Great River Road Interpretive Center and the Extension Office on May 1,
2009. Advance tickets are $5.00 each, tickets purchased the
weekend of the event are $6.00 each. The guided walking tour of
the historic district is an additional $4.00.
Birdhouse contest entries will be
accepted at the Extension office beginning May 11.
In addition to the bird house
contest, this year's Garden Tour features a plein air artist workshop in
the garden of La Maison Guibourd Valle, an Art Garden reception at
Studio de Michel, a farmers market, medicinal plant discussion, book
sale, a tour of the historic district, and door prizes. A talk on
"Gardening for Birds" will be given by S. Juhlin at the Great River Road
Interpretive Center at 10:00 on Saturday.
There will be numerous
opportunities to purchase plants, including native and heirloom
varieties.
