GIRLS ON THE RUN
The St. Clair County University of Missouri Extension office has sponsored the Girls on the Run program since 2002 in schools in St. Clair County. This is an after-school program that is offered once in the fall and once in the spring to girls in third, fourth, fifth and sixth grade.
“Girls on the Run” is a nationally recognized program that educates and prepares girls for a lifetime of self-respect and healthy living. Sample topics of lessons include nutrition, emotional and spiritual health, drugs, values, cooperation, listening skills, gossiping, positivism, and standing up for oneself. The ultimate goal of the program is for the girls to be able to run or walk a mile in the six-week program.
