Wetland/Stream/River Ecosystems – Basics of stream function, how the parts of a watershed interact with each other, how these interactions affect the physical and biologic integrity of the stream ecosystem, the nature of wetlands and their importance in overall ecosystems. Shaw Nature Reserve – Tour of remnant and restored glade areas, open oak woodlands and reestablished tall grass prairie areas in various stages of restoration. Discussion topics will include the pre-settlement landscape, restoration techniques and methods, fire ecology, invasive exotic species control methods, and general information related to these native plant communities.
