Focus on Kids
Focus on Kids is a program to help parents learn how to nurture and support their children through the divorce process and to help parents who are living apart develop ways to work together effectively as co-parents. Focus on Kids satisfies Missouri's educational requirement for parents who are divorcing or filing a motion to modify. It is conducted in cooperation with Missouri’s circuit courts.
What will I gain?
After attending this 2.5 hour class, you will:
Understand the importance of ongoing, supportive and nurturing involvement by both parents.
Receive information on both children’s and adolescents’ developmental needs, abilities and common reactions to divorce.
Learn specific behaviors that help in a co-parenting situation and those that should be avoided.
Receive information on community resources.
Registration is required for each parent. Walk-ins are not accepted. The $49 per person fee is required five working days before the class, and is payable by cash, money order or debit/credit card to University of Missouri Extension Center. Parents must attend on separate dates. To register, call the extension center in St. Charles at 636-970-3000. Classes are offered monthly.
To reschedule, call the University of Missouri Extension Center at 636-970-3000 by noon at least one day prior to the class. Fees will be forfeited if you do not reschedule or attend.
Childcare is not provided so children are not allowed to attend.
Sign-in and sign-out is required. Plan to arrive 10 minutes early and to stay for the entire 2.5 hour session.
The facilitator will notify the circuit clerk that you completed the training.
