Hot Tips for Keeping Cool

Prepare for physical activity by
drinking plenty of water
and other fluids.

Drink more fluids during the activity than your thirst
dictates. It is difficult to drink too much.

Wear sun screen and reapply often.

Plan physical activity for cooler times of the day when possible.

Be aware of the combination of heat and humidity. As heat and
humidity go up, cut back on outdoor physical activity.

Recognize and heed early warning signs of heat illness: cramps,
excessive sweating, cold clammy skin, dizziness, nausea, headache.
