Timely Tip #35

The Healthy Weight Network website offers three easy ways to spot diet fraud and quackery:

  • Claims large rapid weight loss, often “easy, guaranteed and lasing.” (Weight loss should not exceed one or two pounds per week.)

  • Relies heavily on undocumented case histories, before and after photos, and testimonials by “satisfied customers.” (Models are often used in photos; testimony written by the promoter.)

  • Claims to get rid of “cellulite.” (Cellulite does not exist; such claims are a red-flag-warning of misinformation.)

Rather than fall prey to such shameful products in the elusive hope that this will be The One that finally works, stick with the core principles of healthful eating and active living. You may or may not lose weight, but you will be healthier.
