Diversity Statement

University of Missouri Extension is committed to being an inclusive organization where diversity in all its forms is valued and understood by all employees.  The actions and behaviors of all employees should affirm these values as work with colleagues, programs, and constituents throughout the state is carried out.

As employees, we are obligated to support the following diversity tenets of University of Missouri Extension:

·         Achievement of justice

·         Reduction of bias

·         Enhancement of cultural competence

·         Embracing of diversity as value-added to the organization

·         Creation of zero tolerance for bias and prejudice

These tenets shall be reflected in all University of Missouri Extension operations and programs.

For information about our equal employment opportunity policy, go to EEO Policy.

The following websites may be helpful to you as you include diversity in your program efforts:

National Extension Diversity Center - web-based "virtual center" supported with a special needs grant from CSREES. It is a work in progress. Editor, Ann Schauber, Oregon State University, invites regular input from visitors to the site, in the form of comments and dialog about what other state diversity teams are doing that would be appropriate to include.

Library of Congress Link to Information on Over 100 Countries World Wide - description of social economics, political systems and ways they are shaped by cultural factors

Teaching Tolerance - journal website links to diversity issues, a notable site is the legal action section.
