Q1: I am a mentor to a new regional specialist. Where do I enter this activity?

A1: Mentoring activities to support new faculty can be entered under Other Activities Related to Teaching.

  1. Select Other Activities Related to Teaching.
  2. Choose Teaching Activity Type: Mentoring of Faculty Teaching.
  3. Enter Activity Title: Extension new faculty orientation and mentoring.
  4. Enter specialist's name, location and description of mentoring activities.


Q2: I organized and taught an ISE 205 (In-service Education) on Banner Outcomes to 20 extension faculty and staff. Where do I report this?

A2: Even though ISEs target internal audiences, the best way to enter ISEs is under Continuing Education (delivered to external audience).

  1. Select Continuing Education (delivered to external audience).
  2. Enter Title: Banner Outcomes.
  3. Enter Conference/Event Name: ISE 205.
  4. Enter Sponsor: MU Extension.
  5. Enter Target Audience: MU Extension faculty and staff.
     

Q3: I gave a presentation on reporting impact at the MU Extension Summit (annual conference) to 41 extension faculty and staff. Where do I report this?

A3: This activity would be similar to an ISE and entered under Continuing Education (delivered to external audience).

  1. Select Continuing Education (delivered to external audience).
  2. Enter Title: Impact Statement Reporting for Extension professionals.
  3. Enter Conference/Event Name: MU Extension Summit.
  4. Enter Sponsor: MU Extension.
  5. Enter Target Audience: MU Extension faculty and staff.
     

Q4: I am on a team to develop curriculum for estate planning. Where is this entered?

A4: Curriculum development is another example of an activity related to teaching.

  1. Select Other Activities Related to Teaching.
  2. Choose Teaching Activity Type: Curriculum Development.
  3. Enter Activity Title: Estate Planning.
  4. Enter Description of Activity and Potential Significance: your role in developing the curriculum.
     

Q5: I am a guest teacher in an ag class at Mizzou on GPS. Where is this entered?

A5: Guest teaching is another example of an activity related to teaching.

  1. Select Other Activities Related to Teaching.
  2. Choose Teaching Activity Type: Guest Teaching.
  3. Enter Activity Title: GPS for field crops.
  4. Enter Description of Activity and Potential Significance: your role in developing the curriculum.


Q6: Part of my salary is funded through the Family Nutrition Educational Program (FNEP). This doesn’t show under grants. Should I enter it under grants?

A6: No. Report your FNEP activity in myExtension.
 

Q7: Will YPAs and NPAs be expected to report in myVITA?

A7: No, only faculty and a few others (such as regional directors) will report in myVITA.
 

Q8: Will myVITA be able to print the required APA CV for NTT?

A8: Yes, we are working to assure that myVITA, when fully implemented, is coordinated with all NTT requirements.

Q9: How do I enter my professional development goals and plan for the coming years?

A9: Your professional development plans are entered in several ways. Overall professional development goals should be entered under Future Goals and Plans. You can enter multiple goals. Enter actual planned activities under Professional Development and Continuing Education (as a participant). Activities can be planned up to 3 years in advance.
 

Q10: Where do I report articles/newsletter/radio programs, etc. that are frequently published/broadcast via various media outlets?

A10: Report this items under Scholarly Contributions and Creative Activities. View the NTT guidelines on definition of scholarship. http://extension.missouri.edu/hr/ntt.aspx

  1. Select Scholarly Contributions and Creative Activities.
  2. Select Manual Input: Article
  3. Select appropriate Status:
  4. Enter Title to describe your media
  5. Enter Journal the list of media outlets
  6. Enter Description if more details are desired
  7. Select Peer Reviewed/Juried? No
  8. Select remaining input fields as appropriate
     

Q11:  If I volunteer to help a colleague on an extension program not related to my assigned duty, would I enter as a volunteer?

A11: No, this could be a reported in myExtension as a team member for the event. Volunteer Activities (unrelated to your profession) might include serving of a school board, as a scout leader, or coaching a sports team. This is an optional field.
 

Q12:  Do I report my program events in both myExtension and myVITA?

A12: No, program events are only reported in myExtension.
 

Q13:  I have a grant through my county extension office. How do I enter it into the myVITA?

A13: MU Extension grants administered through MU should load from the grant system. Grants and contracts to the county extension center are entered as through Grants (Includes Official UM Record since Fall 2007 and all FAS grants data). Only PI’s should be included.
 

Q14:  I work on a grant through my county extension office. I am not a PI. How do I enter it into the myVITA?

A14:  Grant information is only included for PI’s. Additional faculty should report program events and outcomes related to the grant through myExtension.
 

Q15:  I have a CV with 30 years of professional experience I want to enter into myVITA. Do I have to manually enter all these pages into myVITA?

A15:  There are two options to enter a large CV into myVITA. One is to manually enter each activity. We are working on a delegate option to allow office support to enter information. The second option is to upload a MS Word or PDF file of your CV under Profile: Curriculum Vitae (uploaded file)
 

Q16:  I am currently developing my documentation for the NTT process that begins Aug. 1, 2016. How will myVITA be used in the process this year?

A16:  Details of using myVITA in the NTT process are not completely developed. Please use current NTT processes. http://extension.missouri.edu/hr/ntt.aspx
 

Q17:  I had 6 years of extension experience when appointed to the rank of Assistant Extension Professional through NTT process Sept. 1, 2015. Should I enter my 6 years of extension experience into myVITA in anticipation of myVITA being central in the NTT process when I apply for Associate Extension Professional in 5-6 years?

A17:  Details of using myVITA in the NTT process are not completely developed. At this time, we anticipate you will only need to enter information back to the fall of 2014 when you submitted your application.
 

Q18:  How will regional directors and program directors access myVITA information for my evaluation and professional development plan?

A18:  We anticipated RDs and PDs would have access to your CV by early April 2016. However, this was not possible.  Thus, please email a link to your CV or save in PDF and email as demonstrated in the Activities training. From the opening dashboard, under Vitas & Biosketches

  1. Select- Access standardized vitas or create a personalized one;
  2. Select - Annual Report - Standard CV (Abridged Version) by clicking the View icon to the far right.
  3. Enter date range of Spring 2015 to Spring 2017 or check all.
  4. Click Refresh Report
  5. Once refreshed select the appropriate icon at the top of the page to print, save as MS Word or PDF, or email link.
  6. REMINDER: myVITA features work best in Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, and Safari browsers. Internet Explorer is not recommended because of issues with functionality and display. Please set your browser to accept pop-ups from the myVITA site to ensure an optimal experience.


Q19:  I have answered a number of client questions for eXtension “Ask an Expert” this past year. How do I include these for the NTT documentation?

A19: “Ask an Expert” questions and most other eXtension activities should be entered as Service to Your Profession.
