The MO Small Business Development Center (SBDC) will deliver high-quality and high-impact counseling and
training to the state's entrepreneurs. All four University of
Missouri campuses have an SBDC presence, which
represents more than 60 percent of the state's population. The
remainder of the state is served via subcontract with institutions
across the state. University of Missouri Extension has hosted the SBDC program since 1989.

Missouri has always been a state rich in defense and
defense-dependent firms. However, between 2003-2004, this state saw
a $55 million decrease in defense spending -- the biggest impact
hitting the St. Louis and Kansas City regions. MU Extension's Small Business
Development Centers understands the plight of those businesses
impacted by defense downsizing and will provide assistance in the
form of training and counseling to defense-related firms.
The Connecting for Baby Project

The Connecting for Baby (CFB) project will work statewide with existing programs to help young couples
obtain the skills they need to form a healthy marriage. This will include training and
