| Despite having the safest food supply in the world, consumers in the United States experience approximately 76 million cases of foodborne illnesses each year -- many of these illnesses are caused by food prepared in the home. The University of Missouri, along with Columbia, Missouri's YouZeum (an interactive science center), will design interactive exhibit modules designed to educate consumers about the science behind food safety. | |||

| Financial planning education is most likely to have an impact on low-income families when it is delivered from a source they trust and at a time when families have money to manage. For many low-income families, the only time they have a sum of money to manage is when they receive their income tax return. For this reason, the Personal Financial Planning Extension division will expand the reach of the successful Missouri Taxpayer Education Initiative, a program that pairs the basics of personal financial planning with free tax preparation for low-income families. | |||
