Vice Provost’s Diversity Award: Individual
The Vice Provost’s Diversity Award recognizes individuals providing leadership in the area of diversity. This may include excellence in programs or other initiatives.
The award is given annually. A cash award of $1,000 is awarded.
Applicants must be faculty or staff with an appointment in University of Missouri Extension.
Applications will be evaluated based on the applicant’s efforts related to:
- The creation or expansion of programming or services in which diversity is emphasized.
- The diversity of audiences served.
- Program impact.
Nominations and selection
Applications will be submitted to the Fellowship and Awards Committee each year. Nominations may be submitted by anyone within MU Extension. Self-nominations are accepted. The Fellowship and Awards Committee will review the applications to recommend an individual to receive the Diversity Award.
Nomination materials should include the nomination form, a three- to five-page narrative that addresses the award criteria and a resume or a curriculum vitae with a focus on how it relates to the award. Three letters of support are required. One must be from the nominee’s supervisor and the other letters can be from colleagues and clientele.

A symbol of recognition will be presented by the vice provost for extension at a regional or campus event.
