University of Missouri Extension.
A major function of the local University of
Missouri
Extension Centers is responding to clientele questions in horticultural areas such as
lawns, gardens, shrubs, etc. Local agricultural specialist work closely with county
secretaries and state specialist to respond to a wide range of plant, insect, and disease
questions. University Guides often contain the answers to many of the
questions.
The Master Gardeners program is a volunteer
training program conducted by University Outreach and Extension. Master Gardeners
take classroom training coordinated by local extension staff with the assistance of state
extension specialist. After completing the classroom portion, the participants are
involved in a internship program of volunteer service coordinated by the local
office. The volunteers are ask to share their knowledge gained to help the community
by answering horticulture questions.
