Putnam County is located on the
Missouri-Iowa border in the
northern part of Missouri. U.S. Highway 136 runs east and west
through the middle of the county. It is a largely rural county known
for it's great hunting and recreational value. Putnam
County is
primarily an Agricultural county with farm income coming mainly
from beef
cattle. The population is currently
a little over 5,000 persons.
Putnam
County was organized by a legislative act
that was
approved on February
28th, 1845 and
was named for General
Israel Putnam (a Revolutionary War hero).

Continuing Education:
- Center
for Independent Study - provides opportunities to get
college and high school credit without having to attend the University. These correspondence courses can be
taken at home with the tests given at the Extension Office.

Teaching - the University of Missouri can provide
specific courses to businesses and individuals based on your needs. These can be done
either interactively or at a local site. There is usually a minimum number of students
required.
- University of Missouri-Columbia - has all the information you'll need about the University at Columbia
including admissions, sports, weather, and a lot more.
- University of Missouri
System - provides a link to all the all University of
Missouri campuses (Rolla, Kansas City, Saint Louis, etc.) and the information about each
one.

Jefferson City.
