EXCEL is an approach to leadership development. It is designed for those who want to better understand their community; enhance their people and team building skills; and explore possibility thinking. So far, 70 citizens here in Putnam County have been through the EXCEL program. Together we explore critical community issues and leadership skills development. The EXCEL class is normally a 3 month time commitment. The program typically begins with a kick-off dinner, followed by a weekend retreat. A wide variety of resources and program experiences are used in the EXCEL effort. The programs are not lectures, but provide interactive learning experiences where participants are an integral part of the sharing. Outside resources include community leaders, educators, business people, and faculty and staff from the University of Missouri. What Alumni Say About EXCEL
