Sheep thrive on certain types of pasture. Not only does their preference vary from perennial to annual grasses or from legumes to non-legumes, but also from certain varieties within a species. This publication presents several charts with data on lambs per acre, grazing period and average daily gain for sheep and lambs on various pastures. The nutrient content of some common forages also is broken down by crude protein, cellulose and other categories. Management programs such as rotational grazing are discussed as well.
