Step Up to Leadership: A Curriculum for Developing Community Leaders (Facilitator's Guide)

Dennis Murphy artEditor's note
The following abstract describes a publication that is only available for purchase. A link to ordering information is on this page.

The Step Up to Leadership curriculum intertwines two learning goals:

  • To present content learning about specific topics a novice board member will need to know
  • To provide a learning environment where participants can develop self-awareness and enhance their understanding about human nature and relationships.

Teaching materials for the Step Up to Leadership curriculum include the Participants' Manual and the Facilitator's Guide. The Facilitator's Guide explains how facilitators prepare for the sessions. Each session includes workbook and group activities that underscore essential concepts. Most important, the Facilitator's Guide provides detailed instructions on how to present topics and conduct activities.

The facilitator will need both manuals for teaching the curriculum. Both manuals provide space in the margins to write notes.

A CD-ROM is included with each Facilitator's Guide. The CD contains PDF files of the Participants' Manual, the Facilitator's Guide, handouts, and program administrative materials. Facilitators can print extra material from the CD that the participants already have in their manuals.
