Did you know . . .

over application of fertilizers wastes money, ruin plants, and pollutes the water.

Soil testing tells you:

  • What nutrients are available in your soil
  • Provides recommendations to correct existing problems

A "basic" or "regular" soil test provides:

  • pH level (acidity or alkalinity)
  • Phosphorus level
  • Potassium level
  • Calcium level
  • Magnesium level
  • Organic matter percent
  • Recommendations for corrective treatment

GETTING RESULTS

The Soil & Plant testing Laboratory at the University of Missouri will test samples.  The results will be forwarded to the Platte County Extension office, where the horticulture specialist will provide individual recommendations.

Results will be mailed directly to you about two weeks after submitting the sample.

For questions about cost, call us at 816-270-2141 or e-mail platteco@missouri.edu.
