Presenting your county program plan: recommendations for county
program directors
- Early July
See that the County Program Plan is assembled and
mailed to county extension council members. Attach a cover letter asking
council members to review the plan before the next council meeting. A sample
cover letter is available at right.
- Prior to the council meeting
Print the County Program Plan from the
Webapps system. This should be available for council members to review and
as a reference for any questions about programs.
Instructions
From the menu at the top of the Extension
Web Applications page, select Planning. From the drop down
menu, select Reports. This leads to another drop down menu.
From it, select CountyPlan.
This leads to the County Planning Report Selection page.
A number of options appear here, but for the County Program Plan, select
the following:
Your county
Fiscal year 2007
Program description
Program outcomes
Personnel
Underserved audiences
Marketing strategy for underserved audiences
- To prepare yourself to answer council members’ questions, review
the programs that have been selected for residents of your county. Compare
them to the needs that were identified during the needs assessment and
county council discussion. If it isn’t clear which issue the program
addresses, contact the personnel who plan to present the program for clarification.
- At the July or August council meeting
Reiterate that resources
(faculty, dollars, time and programs available) are limited. Given the available
resources, these are the programs our faculty have selected for the coming
year to respond to the needs identified by the council. Specific events
and activities will occur throughout the year. Councils will receive monthly
updates on these programs.
- Ask for council comments and input to improve our efforts for future
plans. Explain that the process is continuous. We will take their comments
into consideration and update the plan as needed. Statewide, MU Extension
will look at program gaps and, where feasible, develop new programs to
respond to needs.
- Council feedback should be recorded in the minutes of the meeting.
