University of Missouri Extension Business Development Specialists provide: Counseling to prospective new business owners in the areas of assessment of overall feasibility, opportunities for financing and development of the business plan. They counsel existing businesses on a range of topics including accounting and bookkeeping; finance and cash flow analysis; marketing; personnel and technology.

Short-courses and workshops may include topics such as "Starting a Business," "Financial Analysis for Small Business," and "Customer Relations."

If our office cannot provide the counseling or educational program needed, we will initiate a referral to a resource that hopefully can assist the client.

• Missouri Small Business Development Centers provide counseling for business plan development, financial management, market feasibility, international trade, franchising and licensing, inventory, marketing and more.
• Missouri Procurement Technical Assistance Centers (MO PTAC): selling to federal, state and local government entities
• The Missouri Small Business & Technology Development Centers helps businesses get their innovations into the marketplace.
• Workforce Development/Career Options
  Dislocated workers and others can get information on occupations, education and training, financial aid and job hunting information from the Career Information Hotline (1-800-392-2949), and/or on the web.
• The Missouri Market Development Program helps manufacturers find and use recycled materials in producing new goods.
