THE SPRING SALE OF FALL CALVING
HEIFERS WILL BE
MAY 4, 2002
AT THE FRUITLAND LIVESTOCK AUCTION
THERE WILL BE ABOUT 180 HEIFERS IN THE SALE.
All heifers have been calfhood vaccinated.
Heifers have met minimum standards for reproductive soundness, pelvic size, body condition and weight and are free of blemishes.
Heifers have been bred to bulls meeting strict calving ease/birth weight requirements.
Many of the heifers have been artificially inseminated and are carrying pregnancies by leading bulls in their respective breeds.
Bred heifers will calve from late September 1 to November 1, 2002. Many have been synchronized and will calve in a short time period.
Eligible sires must have known ID, be registered by their respective
national breed registry, and have complete EPD information. Sires must
meet calving ease EPD requirements listed in Table 1 for breeds
reporting calving ease EPD. For breeds not reporting calving ease EPD,
sires must meet birth weight EPD requirements listed in the tables
below. All sires used in conjunction with artificial insemination
must have a minimum accuracy value of 0.6 on a scale of zero to one for
the respective EPD's (birth weight or calving ease).
