Educational Fee Reduction for Spouses and Dependents of University of Missouri Employees

University of Missouri policy provides a 50 percent educational fee reduction for the eligible spouses and dependent children of University employees. The policy takes effect with the Fall 2003 semester.

Eligible spouses or dependent children of eligible employees may receive a fee reduction for up to 140 hours of University of Missouri college credit courses per spouse or dependent child. For all courses (undergraduate, graduate or professional), the rate of such fee reduction shall be based on the educational fee charged to a resident student for undergraduate courses.

Eligibility
1. Employees must be currently employed and  benefit-eligible with five years of continuous full-time service immediately prior to the first day of the semester or session in which the spouse/dependent is enrolled.

2. An eligible spouse is the legal spouse of an employee, excluding a divorced spouse or a spouse separated from the employee by contract or decree.

3. An eligible dependent child or children must meet the criteria required under the definitions of “Child or Children” and “Dependent” based on the terms and conditions of the University of Missouri Medical Benefits Plan.

Application Procedure
1. University of Missouri employees should submit UM Form 85-Authorization for Educational Fee Reduction for Spouse and Dependents to Human Resource Services, 130 Heinkel Building, Columbia, MO 65211, to verify eligibility.

2. Approved forms will be sent directly to the campus where the spouse/dependent is enrolled.

Conditions
1.  Activity fees, books, and other expenses are the responsibility of the student.

2. An eligible spouse or dependent must meet all student admission requirements.

3. No educational fee reduction will be granted after the deadline for registration or for previously completed courses.

4. The regular refund policy of the University applies in cases of withdrawal from a course.

UM Form 85-Authorization for Educational Fee Reduction for Spouse and Dependents may be downloaded and completed online. Regional employees should send signed forms to Human Resource Services, 130 Heinkel Building, Columbia, MO 65211.

Note: Under the EMPLID box, employees must use their employee ID number (found at the top left of their pay stub). The employee ID number is not the same as your Social Security number.
