GrandLinkers and ParentLink TogetherIn partnership with AARP, ParentLink hosted a GrandLinker training on June 22nd, 2007. |
![]() |
A GrandLinker is an AARP volunteer who works to connect
grandparents who are raising their grandchildren with
resources for themselves and the children they are
raising.
Participants of the training learned more about the
goals and objectives of the Grandlinker role, gained
more familiarity with the ParentLink WarmLine, and
listened to a legal expert comment on current laws and
regulations.

ParentLink Hosts GrandLinker QuickLink Training
ParentLink hosted a training on an AARP benefits program called QuickLink. Using this program, ParentLink can now quickly pull together and print out for grandparents raising grandchildren a report that will notify grandparents of all government services they may be eligible for, such as TANF, Medicare Prescription Drug Coverage, Earned Income Tax Credit, and Food Stamp Programs. The reports identify contact phone numbers of local government offices as well as indicate what documents grandparents need to apply for the particular programs. To find out more information on the QuickLink program, go to www.aarp.org/quicklink. The program should greatly simplify the lives of many grandparents raising their grandchildren!
