In a Pinch: Food Yields

Common can sizes

8 ounces can

    Fruits, vegetables, specialties for small families

Picnic can

  • Weight
    10-1/2 to 12 ounces
  • 1-1/4 cups
  • Products
    Mainly condensed soups. Some fruits, vegetables, meat, fish, specialties.

12 ounces vacuum can

  • Weight
    12 ounces
  • 1-1/2 cups
  • Products
    Mainly for vacuum-packed corn.

Number 300 can

  • Weight
    14 to 16 ounces
    (14 ounces to 1 pound)
  • 1-3/4 cups
  • Products
    Pork and beans, baked beans, meat products, cranberry sauce, blueberries, specialties.

Number 303 can

  • Weight
    16 to 17 ounces
    (1 pound To 1 pound 1 ounces)
  • 2 cups
  • Products
    Principal size for fruits and vegetables. Also some meat products, ready-to-serve soups, specialties.

Number 2 can
