working to assist businesses in finding new and innovative ways reduce or manage

Solutions
provides on-line resources for business and industry for pollution prevention, waste

MISSOURI PROGRAMS &
RESOURCES

Solid
Waste Assessment Program (SWAP) is a waste assessment tool
designed to help small- and medium-sized companies analyze and minimize solid waste
generation. The program incorporates an on-site review and analysis of business
operations and is available through the Mid-America
Manufacturing Technology Center (MAMTC).
Missouri
Department of Natural Resources Technical
Assistance Program (TAP) provides information,
assistance, education and training on environmental issues including regulatory compliance
and pollution prevention.
Missouri
Department of Natural Resources Hazardous Waste
Program
encourages the reduction of hazardous waste generation, regulates the management of
hazardous wastes, and oversees the cleanup of hazardous waste contamination in the state.
Small Business
Research & Information Center helps Missouri's small
businesses access up-to-date information on a variety of topics. Using the best and most
current sources, the center gathers and helps analyze information needed to make well
informed business decisions.
Solid Waste Management Districts
(SWMD) were
formed to encourage regional, city and county cooperation in proper solid waste
management. Districts develop programs to encourage waste reduction, recycling, and proper
disposal methods. To find out more about these activities in your area, contact the
planner of you local solid waste management district.
The
Missouri Market Development Program promotes and assists
recycling throughout Missouri by focusing economic development efforts on businesses which
use materials recovered from solid waste in manufacturing operations. Contact MMDP at

FEDERAL PROGRAMS &

Waste Wise is a free, voluntary, EPA
program through which organizations eliminate costly municipal solid waste, benefiting
their bottom line and the environment. Waste Wise is a flexible program that allows
partners to design their own solid waste reduction programs tailored to their
needs. Waste Wise partner organizations can save thousands or millions of
dollars by reducing, reusing, and recycling solid waste materials.
The National Pollution Prevention Roundtable is the largest membership
organization in the United States devoted solely to pollution prevention (P2). The mission
of the Roundtable is to provide a national forum for promoting the development,
implementation, and evaluation of efforts to avoid, eliminate, or reduce pollution at the
source.
Office of
Pollution Prevention and Toxics is an EPA sponsored web site
that provides information on a variety of pollution prevention issues including
legislation and policy, projects and programs, grants, and training/conferences.
EPA Region 7 (Missouri, Kansas, Iowa,
Nebraska) web page addresses numerous topics including solid & hazardous waste
management, enforcement & compliance, pollution prevention, toxics, and laws &
regulations.
