Heartland Regional Community Foundation and Northwest Missouri State
University facilitate and provide leadership for a regional healthy community movement
aimed at supporting health and quality of life enhancements. This grassroots initiative
called Healthy Communities for the Midwestern Four Corners encourages people from all
sectors and walks of life to work side-by-side as partners to create a desired future for
all who live in our communities.
Understanding that community-wide interests such as housing, education,
economic vitality, and civic involvement play key roles in the health of individuals and
communities, the initiative is an integrated model that builds upon a collaborative
process. It promotes voluntarism, wholistic systems thinking, creativity, innovation, and
perpetual learning opportunities by encouraging a quality culture complete with outcomes
measurement, recognition, and celebration.
