COLUMBIA, Mo. - Ann Wideman of Ralls County was named a 2014 Missouri 4-H Foundation Naomi Crouch Leadership awardee on March 14 in Columbia. She was recognized for her commitment to the University of Missouri Extension 4-H youth development program.

“It is our great pleasure to honor Ann with the Naomi Crouch Award for her dedication to Missouri 4-H,” said Cheryl Reams, executive director of the Missouri 4-H Foundation. “Volunteers like Ann have made Missouri 4-H the quality experience that it is today, and we are indebted to Ann for her service.”

Wideman has been an active Ralls County 4-H leader for 34 years. She became involved in the program when her daughters joined 4-H and has since continued to play an active role on the Ralls County Junior Fair Board. She has served on the junior fair board as treasurer for 22 years, managing all of the accounting and financial reporting, and some of the fundraising.

She is a staple in the Ralls County 4-H program and a prime example of 4-H volunteer leadership. In addition to her numerous roles in 4-H, she is also active in the Loafers Car Club, a not-for-profit organization that supports families affected by childhood cancer.

The Naomi Crouch Leadership Award is given annually to volunteers and organizations that devote their time and talents to MU Extension’s 4-H youth development programs. The award is named for Naomi Crouch, a Plattsburg native who was an active 4-H volunteer and Missouri 4-H Foundation trustee for more than 20 years.

Celebrating 64 years of service to 4-H youth, the Missouri 4-H Foundation secures funds for the Missouri 4-H youth development program, provides higher education scholarships and recognizes 4-H volunteers. For more information, go to 4h.missouri.edu/foundation.
