COLUMBIA, Mo. – A free workshop offers financial tips for unemployed and underemployed people. University of Missouri Extension sponsors the workshop.
The first “Take Control of Your Finances” workshop is 1-3 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 15, at 1500 Vandiver Drive, Suite 115, Columbia. It will be repeated monthly throughout 2014.
Vivian Mason, MU Extension family financial education specialist, leads the sessions. Topics include filing for unemployment benefits, reducing debt and avoiding financial predators. She also will teach how to communicate with family members and creditors and how to use community resources.
