COLUMBIA, Mo. – The second field day for hops growers, craft brewers and home brewers will be 3-6 p.m. Thursday, July 20, at the University of Missouri Bradford Research Center, Columbia.

MU Extension horticulturists Patrick Byers and Jim Quinn planted 10 varieties hops at the research farm. The field day on the quarter-acre hop yard gives growers an opportunity to review vine growth, cone formation, irrigation systems, common diseases and plans for harvesting and drying.

The free event is the second in a series to educate brewers on this growing trend. Byers said about 25 people, including growers, craft brewers and home brewers attended the first event.

For more information or to register, contact Byers at byerspl@missouri.edu or 417-859-2044, or Quinn at quinnja@missouri.edu or 573-634-2824.
