COLUMBIA, Mo.– On Sept. 18 at MU’s Reynolds Journalism Institute, Extension: Taking the Long View offered brief presentations and a panel discussion on the future of University of Missouri Extension. The discussion was part of MU’s weeklong celebration of Mizzou’s 175th anniversary and the inauguration of Chancellor R. Bowen Loftin.

The panelists spoke about MU Extension’s value as a public source of relevant and reliable information, and how extension can strengthen the university’s ties to Missouri counties. The presentations and audience discussion focused on challenges that MU Extension will face in the future and strategies to help extension meet the evolving needs of Missourians.

Three past recipients of the C. Brice Ratchford Memorial Fellowship presented for the panel: Ronald J. Turner, UM executive vice president emeritus; Michael L. Cook, MU professor and Robert D. Partridge Chair in Cooperative Leadership; and Robert L. Kallenbach, MU professor and state extension specialist.

Vice Provost and Director of Cooperative Extension Michael D. Ouart was moderator.
