Holiday gift safety tips

    Holiday gift safety tips

    1. Pack it safely. Perishable foods stay at a safe temperature longer if frozen solid first. Then, pack your food with dry ice or a frozen gel pack.

    2. Mark it clearly. Let the recipient know the package is on the way if it needs to be refrigerated or frozen immediately.

    3. Use a sturdy packing box made of heavy foam or sturdy cardboard. Use crushed newspaper or foam peanuts to cushion the item and fill the empty space.

    4. When ordering food from a store, find out how they will ship to make sure items arrive frozen. Ideally, items will be shipped overnight.
